Scanning Problems

Page 179 highlights

Problem Faxes do not print Cause The BJ cartridge may not be installed correctly. The print head may need cleaning. The BJ cartridge may need to be replaced. The MultiPASS may not have a BC-21e Color or BC-20 Black BJ Cartridge installed. Solution Be sure to remove the orange tape from the BJ cartridge before you install it in the MultiPASS (see page 7-14). Make sure the BJ cartridge is installed correctly (see page 7-11). Clean the print head several times (see page 7-8). Try another BJ cartridge. Faxes will print only when a BC-21e Color or BC-20 Black BJ Cartridge is installed. Fax images print blotched or uneven The telephone lines may be in poor condition, or you may have a bad connection. The other party's fax may have a problem. ECM sending/receiving should eliminate such problems. However, if the telephone lines are in poor condition, you may have to try again. Remember, the sending fax usually determines document quality. Be sure the other party's top cover and scanning glass are clean. Scanning Problems Problem TextBridge Pro reports it "found an unsupported feature in the TIFF image file" (the file was created by ScanTastic) Unexplained scanning Cause TextBridge Pro can only process TIFF files that are generated in Line Art mode (not Grayscale or Color TIFF files). Possibly corrupt Preferences file. Solution Ensure that you set ScanTastic's Image Type to Line Art before scanning a document to be processed by TextBridge pro. Delete the ScanTastic Preferences file located in your System folder. A new copy of the Preferences file is automatically created the next time you start ScanTastic. 8-26 Troubleshooting Chapter 8
