Chapter 4 Recording, Playback and Copying Frame frequency 50 Hz 23.98 Hz System frequency 50P 50i 25P 23.98P Notes • When the unit is in a mode that calls for playback across clips that were recorded in different recording formats, video and audio playback may stop at the point where the format changes from one format into another, and then start again. • If a transition point between two clips with different recording formats exists in the preroll segment, that segment cannot be edited. Linear Editing Note For linear editing, install the optional XDBK-105 and set the unit to VTR mode. To configure VTR mode, set maintenance menu item M397 PORT CONFIGURATION to "VTR mode". Overview You can perform the following types of editing on recorded clips. Type of editing Editing target Insert editing Video tracks in a single clip. Audio tracks in a single clip. (Split editing is also possible. But the Out point must be shared with the video tracks.) Timecode in a single clip. Assemble editing All clips. Notes • Locked clips cannot be edited. • Editing across multiple clips is not possible. • If there is no space on the internal storage, the clip cannot be edited. • Linear editing is not supported for the following clips. Edit clips after re-recording to internal storage using the transcode copy function (see page 69). - HD422 clips recorded with the Interval Rec, Picture Cache, Disc Exchange Cache, or Slow & Quick Motion functions - HD422 clips that have been partially transferred by an FTP or FAM connection - Partially-copied clips - Clips referenced from an EDL as sub clips • Normally, linear editing on this unit can target only clips that have been created on XDCAM devices. It may not be possible to edit clips that been created by other software applications and uploaded to this unit as files. Linear Editing
For linear editing, install the optional XDBK-105 and set
the unit to VTR mode. To configure VTR mode, set
maintenance menu item M397 PORT CONFIGURATION
to “VTR mode”.
Overview
You can perform the following types of editing on
recorded clips.

Locked clips cannot be edited.
•
Editing across multiple clips is not possible.
•
If there is no space on the internal storage, the clip
cannot be edited.
•
Linear editing is not supported for the following clips.
