Chapter 5 MtcDgs Messages IOPn.MtcDgs status: Send packet allocation failure. Severity Warning Description MtcDgs was unable to allocate an NDIS_PACKET needed to transmit an Ethernet packet. Action You can ignore this message unless it is logged frequently. IOPn.MtcDgs status: Unable to open NIC. Severity Error Description During initialization, the HP NetServer AA Datagram Service opens each NIC that is bound to MtcDgs. This message is reported if one of the NICs could not be opened. In this case, MtcDgs initialization continues unless none of the bound NICs can be opened. This message indicates that either: • There is an error in the bindings. • The NIC driver (that loads before MtcDgs) encountered an error that prevented it from initializing the device. Related Messages IOPn.MtcDgs status: Error in NIC bindings. Action • Check the event log for errors logged by the NIC driver. • If a condition is preventing the driver from initializing the device, follow the manufacturer's procedures for correcting the condition. • Verify the bindings for NICs. Make any required changes to the bindings. • After you modify the bindings, remember to reboot the IOP so the new bindings can take effect. Refer to Chapter 9 in HP NetServer AA Solution Administrator's Guide for information about how to reboot an IOP. IOPn.MtcDgs status: Unable to query or set NIC. Severity Error Description This message is returned during initialization when MtcDgs attempts to set or query NIC characteristics. The Event Log Data section contains the NDIS error code. Depending on the operation, MtcDgs may abort initialization. The command IOPn.DatagramService Show Port Information displays the NICs that have been successfully opened by MtcDgs. Action Errors setting or querying a NIC can be transient or can be caused by problems in the third-party NIC driver. You may be able to correct this by updating the NIC driver. 94
