Chapter 11 Keyboard and Pointer (MtcKmP) Messages Packet descriptor allocation failure. Severity Error Source MtcKmR Description This is a severe resource error that occurs only if your CE is out of non-paged memory. Under some circumstances, this is a fatal error. Unconsumed keyboard input discarded. Severity Warning Source MtcKmR Description The Keyboard Pointer Redirector provides input to the Keyboard class driver. Normally, the class driver consumes all the input. On a very heavily loaded system, or during a system state transition, the class driver may not be able to consume all the input, and the Keyboard Pointer Redirector discards the unconsumed input. Action • Monitor the frequency of this warning, as well as the error counters maintained by the Keyboard Pointer Provider. • View the message data as Words. The last longword (4 bytes) of data contains the number of keyboard input packets discarded. • If this error occurs frequently, contact your service provider for assistance. Description
This is a severe resource error that occurs only if your CE is out of non-paged memory. Under
some circumstances, this is a fatal error.
Unconsumed keyboard input discarded.
Severity
Warning

MtcKmR
Description
The Keyboard Pointer Redirector provides input to the Keyboard class driver. Normally, the
class driver consumes all the input. On a very heavily loaded system, or during a system state
transition, the class driver may not be able to consume all the input, and the Keyboard Pointer
Redirector discards the unconsumed input.
Action
Monitor the frequency of this warning, as well as the error counters maintained by the
Keyboard Pointer Provider.
View the message data as Words. The last longword (4 bytes) of data contains the number
of keyboard input packets discarded.
If this error occurs frequently, contact your service provider for assistance.
