Chapter 7 MtcEthP and MtcEtx Messages IOPn.MtcEtx Status Messages IOPn.MtcEtx status: Data PDUs have been received out of sequence. Severity Warning Description A Data PDU with the wrong sequence number was received from the remote IOP. This message is logged when the condition first occurs and, thereafter, on every 1000th occurrence. It typically occurs when a network adapter drops an incoming Ethernet packet. The Event Viewer Data section contains the current number of receive out of sequence errors. It is not unusual for a network adapter to drop an occasional packet (especially on a heavily loaded system or during a system state transition). Action • Use the HP NetServer AA GUI to monitor the IopLinkDriver Port counters. A large number of Data PDU retransmits will have an impact on mirror copy time. • Run the MTCEINFO Tool, described in Chapter 7 in HP NetServer AA Solution Administrator's Guide, on both IOPs and monitor the error counters on the network adapter bound to MtcEtx. Pay particular attention to OID_802_3_RCV_OVERRUN errors (the number of frames not received due to overrun errors on the network adapter). • If you are experiencing excessive errors, try increasing the adapter parameters, such as the number of receive buffers. • Contact your service provider for further assistance. IOPn.MtcEtx status: Data PDUs have been retransmitted. Severity Warning Description An acknowledgment for a data PDU was not received from the remote IOP within the timeout interval. This message is logged when the condition first occurs and, thereafter, on every 1000th occurrence. This condition typically occurs when a network adapter drops an incoming Ethernet packet. The Event Viewer Data section contains the current number of retransmits. If you are experiencing excessive errors, try increasing the adapter parameters, such as the
number of receive buffers.
