Chapter 13 MtcMon Messages IOPn.MtcMon status: IOPx could not be shut down or disabled because one or more CEs are active and the boot device is not online on IOPy. Shut down the Windows NT operating system on the CEs first. Variables x - the ID of the IOP that could not be shut down or disabled y - the ID of the IOP whose boot device is not online Severity Warning Description This message is generated in response to an IOP Disable Operation or IOP Shutdown command that is issued under the following conditions: • The CE operating system is active. • The specified IOP contains the only active online member of the boot device mirror set. • The Operator Override option was not specified when issuing the IOP Disable Operation or IOP Shutdown command. As a result, the IOP is not removed from service. Hardware/Software This message is generated as a result of a software condition. Action In this case, the specified IOP cannot be removed because it would result in abnormal termination of the CE operating system (since the boot disk would no longer be accessible). • Instead, shut down Windows NT on the CE, then disable or shut down the IOP. • Optionally, allow the mirror copy of the boot disk to complete (or repair the disk on the other IOP, if necessary), then disable or shut down the IOP. You can reissue the command using the Operator Override option to remove the IOP, but the CE operating system will be terminated abnormally. IOPn.MtcMon status: IOPx has been disabled by operator request. Variables x - the ID of the IOP that has been disabled Severity Warning Description This message is generated when an IOP Disable Operation or a Tuple Disable Operation command is executed successfully. Related Messages IOPn.MtcMon status: CEx has been removed from service. Hardware/Software This message is generated as a result of a software condition. Action No action is required. The IOP was successfully disabled, and an indication of this fact is written to the event log. 255

device is not online on IOP

Severity
Warning
Description
This message is generated in response to an IOP
Disable Operation or
IOP
Shutdown
command that is issued under the following conditions:
The CE operating system is active.
The specified IOP contains the only active online member of the boot device mirror set.
The Operator Override option was
not
specified when issuing the IOP
Disable Operation
or
IOP
Shutdown command.
As a result, the IOP is not removed from service.
Hardware/Software
This message is generated as a result of a software condition.
Action
In this case, the specified IOP cannot be removed because it would result in abnormal
termination of the CE operating system (since the boot disk would no longer be accessible).
Instead, shut down Windows NT on the CE, then disable or shut down the IOP.
Optionally, allow the mirror copy of the boot disk to complete (or repair the disk on the
other IOP, if necessary), then disable or shut down the IOP. You can reissue the command
using the Operator Override option to remove the IOP, but the CE operating system will be
terminated abnormally.
