Chapter 13 MtcMon Messages IOPn.MtcMon status: A protocol error occurred on IOPx during IOP initialization. Variables x - the ID of the IOP experiencing the protocol error Severity Error Description After an IOP starts up, it attempts to perform an initialization sequence with any remote IOP. A series of control messages are exchanged as part of this process. An illegal message was detected by an IOP during this sequence, or a missing message was detected. Related Messages IOPn.MtcMon status: IOPx initialization failed. IOPn.MtcMon status: IOPx is faulted and requires repair. Hardware/Software An error was detected by the Endurance server software. This message is the result of a software error or an unexpected hardware or software transition. Action This message may occur if the system experiences an unexpected transition, such as loss of an IOP or CE, during IOP initialization. This message is thresholded. If the threshold is not exceeded, the IOP joining process is retried. If the retry is not successful, an IOP is faulted when the threshold is exceeded. • If this condition occurs in the absence of any related messages, make sure that the Endurance server IOPs are using compatible software. If the revisions are not compatible, reinstall them if necessary. • If the condition persists, contact your service provider for assistance. IOPn.MtcMon status: A protocol error occurred with CEx while suspension of the CE operating system was being attempted. Variables x - the ID of the CE experiencing the protocol error Severity Warning Description Before beginning most system element transitions, the Endurance server momentarily stops processing of the CE operating system. A protocol error was detected between the IOP and the active CE(s). Related Messages IOPn.MtcMon status: CEx has been removed from service. Hardware/Software This message may be caused by: • A hardware failure on the Interconnects between the IOP and the CE • A software failure on the IOP or CE Action This message can be ignored when reported with a message that resulted in the removal of an IOP. Examine the event log to determine if such a failure occurred. If none is found, contact your service provider to report this message. 218

Severity
Error
Description
After an IOP starts up, it attempts to perform an initialization sequence with any remote IOP.
A series of control messages are exchanged as part of this process. An illegal message was
detected by an IOP during this sequence, or a missing message was detected.

is faulted and requires repair.
Hardware/Software
An error was detected by the Endurance server software. This message is the result of a
software error or an unexpected hardware or software transition.
Action
This message may occur if the system experiences an unexpected transition, such as loss of an
IOP or CE, during IOP initialization. This message is thresholded. If the threshold is not
exceeded, the IOP joining process is retried. If the retry is not successful, an IOP is
faulted
when the threshold is exceeded.
If this condition occurs in the absence of any related messages, make sure that the
Endurance server IOPs are using compatible software. If the revisions are not compatible,
reinstall them if necessary.
If the condition persists, contact your service provider for assistance.

attempted.

Severity
Warning
Description
Before beginning most system element transitions, the Endurance server momentarily stops
processing of the CE operating system. A protocol error was detected between the IOP and the
active CE(s).

has been removed from service.
Hardware/Software
This message may be caused by:
A hardware failure on the Interconnects between the IOP and the CE
A software failure on the IOP or CE
Action
This message can be ignored when reported with a message that resulted in the removal of an
IOP. Examine the event log to determine if such a failure occurred. If none is found, contact
your service provider to report this message.
