Chapter 4 MtcCEX Messages MtcCEX: Received illegal transport packet. Severity Warning Description This message displays in a Windows NT blue screen on a monitor attached directly to a CE during CE operating system boot when the HP NetServer AA CE Transport receives an unexpected packet from the IOP. The CE Transport attempts to continue the boot process. Hardware/Software This message may be the result of either an HP NetServer AA software failure, probably on the IOP, or a malfunctioning MIC adapter in either the CE or the IOP driving the boot process. Action • If CE boot does not succeed after retrying, reinstall the HP NetServer AA software on both the IOPs and the CE. • If the problem continues, first replace the CE MIC, and then replace the IOP MIC. • If the problem persists, contact your service provider for assistance. MtcCEX: Received RESET request from boot IOP. Severity Warning Description This message displays in a Windows NT blue screen on a monitor attached directly to a CE during CE operating system boot when the HP NetServer AA CE Transport receives a RESET request from the IOP. The CE operating system boot terminates. Hardware/Software This message is generated when the IOP driving the boot process sends a RESET to the CE. This occurs as a result of an operator command or due to system fault handling. The latter can be a result of either hardware or software problems. Action • If this message occurs as a result of an operator command, no action is necessary. • If the message is not the result of an operator command, examine the IOP event logs to determine why the CE was deconfigured and whether manual intervention is required to repair the condition. • If the problem persists, contact your service provider for assistance. 80

MtcCEX: Received illegal transport packet.
Severity
Warning
Description
This message displays in a Windows NT blue screen on a monitor attached directly to a CE
during CE operating system boot when the HP NetServer AA CE Transport receives an
unexpected packet from the IOP. The CE Transport attempts to continue the boot process.
Hardware/Software
This message may be the result of either an HP NetServer AA software failure, probably on
the IOP, or a malfunctioning MIC adapter in either the CE or the IOP driving the boot process.
Action
If CE boot does not succeed after retrying, reinstall the HP NetServer AA software on
both
the IOPs and the CE.
If the problem continues, first replace the CE MIC, and then replace the IOP MIC.
If the problem persists, contact your service provider for assistance.
MtcCEX: Received RESET request from boot IOP.
Severity
Warning
Description
This message displays in a Windows NT blue screen on a monitor attached directly to a CE
during CE operating system boot when the HP NetServer AA CE Transport receives a RESET
request from the IOP. The CE operating system boot terminates.
Hardware/Software
This message is generated when the IOP driving the boot process sends a RESET to the CE.
This occurs as a result of an operator command or due to system fault handling. The latter can
be a result of either hardware or software problems.
Action
If this message occurs as a result of an operator command, no action is necessary.
If the message is not the result of an operator command, examine the IOP event logs to
determine why the CE was deconfigured and whether manual intervention is required to
repair the condition.
If the problem persists, contact your service provider for assistance.
