Chapter 7 MtcEthP and MtcEtx Messages IOPn.MtcEtx status: IOP Link driver protocol version mismatch. Severity Error Description MtcEtx includes a protocol version number in the Control PDUs used to establish a virtual circuit. This message is logged if the protocol version on the IOPs does not agree. The Event Log Data section contains the protocol version number contained in the Control PDU. The IOPs cannot join because MtcEtx cannot create a virtual circuit. The only time this error can occur is during an upgrade of the HP NetServer AA software if one IOP is upgraded to a new version and rebooted without simultaneously upgrading and rebooting the other IOP. Action • Reinstall the HP NetServer AA software on the IOPs. • Contact your service provider for further assistance. IOPn.MtcEtx status: NIC receive data lookahead buffer is too small. Severity Error Description When an Ethernet packet is received, a NIC provides access to some portion of the packet data during the initial stage of receive processing. This is known as the lookahead buffer. This message is logged during initialization, when MtcEtx queries the IL's NIC and discovers the lookahead buffer size is too small to support MtcEtx operations. Action To correct this condition, use a NIC that supports a larger lookahead buffer. Use only those NICS that are certified for use with the HP NetServer AA server. IOPn.MtcEtx status: Receive packet allocation failure. Severity Warning Description MtcEtx was unable to allocate the resources needed to receive an incoming Ethernet packet. Occasional resource errors can occur without a significant impact, because packets are retransmitted by MtcEtx on the remote IOP. Action If excessive receive packet allocation failures occur, contact your service provider. 134
