Chapter 14 MtcScsiP and MtcScsiR Messages IOPn.MtcScsiP status: Unable to flush cache for DISKn. Variables n - the disk number; for example, DISK0, DISK1, DISK2 Severity Error Description HP NetServer AA software must occasionally flush the write cache for disk controllers, which support write cache. However, HP NetServer AA software was unable to flush write cache for the specified disk. A mirrored disk set with inconsistent data between each member disk may exist, although this is unlikely. Action Contact your service provider for assistance. IOPn.MtcScsiP status: Unable to get provider information from Registry. Contact your service provider for assistance. Severity Error Description The SCSI Provider was unable to obtain information from the Registry. This error may indicate the Registry on the local IOP is corrupt or incomplete. Action • You can repair a corrupt Registry using your Windows NT emergency repair disk or by using other Windows NT repair areas, but only if they have been kept up-to-date. • Otherwise, you may need to perform a full Windows NT installation on the IOP. Check Windows NT documentation for more details. IOPn.MtcScsiP status: Unable to locate detected bad block for DISKn during mirror copy. No retries left. Failing read operation. Variables n - the disk number; for example, DISK0, DISK1, DISK2 Severity Error Description Whenever the presence of a bad block is detected, it will be localized down to a specific sector. However, if the error was transient, it may be impossible to identify because the error will not recur. If this process repeats several times without a successful read, then the read operation will be failed. Action • Use HP NetServer AA Manager to reset the mirror copy. • If the copy fails again, check SCSI termination and cabling. • If the cabling and termination seem correct, back up all data from the source disk, and replace the source disk. See Chapter 9 in HP NetServer AA Solution Administrator's Guide for details about replacing a mirrored disk. Note: The bad spot on the disk may or may not affect the integrity of the file system. Whether it has an effect will become apparent as you attempt to back up your data. 343

Description
HP NetServer AA software must occasionally flush the write cache for disk controllers, which
support write cache. However, HP NetServer AA software was unable to flush write cache for
the specified disk. A mirrored disk set with inconsistent data between each member disk may
exist, although this is unlikely.
