Chapter 11 Keyboard and Pointer (MtcKmP) Messages IOPn.MtcKmP status: Pointer attributes mismatch. Pointer devices are not identical. Severity Error Description During initialization, the Keyboard/Pointer Provider obtains the attributes of the local pointer device. During the IOP join process, these providers for each IOP compare the attributes to make sure the pointer devices are identical. If they are not identical, the joining provider's pointer is set to failed from the CE standpoint, but the pointer is still available on the local IOP. Action • Verify that the pointer devices are identical. • Make sure that the pointer devices on all IOPs are plugged in. • Reboot the IOP with the failed device. IOPn.MtcKmP status: Timeout waiting for join complete from active Keyboard Pointer Provider. Severity Error Description During the IOP join process, the Keyboard/Pointer Providers on each IOP exchange device and state information. This requires exchanging a number of IOP-to-IOP messages. If the merging Provider becomes unavailable prior to completing the join, that Provider times out, causing its input devices to fail. IOPn.MtcKmP status: Timeout waiting for join response from active input provider. IOPn.MtcKmP status: Unconsumed keyboard input discarded. Severity Warning Description The Keyboard/Pointer Provider provides input to the Keyboard class driver on the IOP. Normally, the class driver consumes all the input. On a very heavily loaded system, or during a system state transition, the class driver may not be able to consume all the input, and the Keyboard/Pointer Provider discards the unconsumed input. Action • Monitor the frequency of this warning, as well as the error counters maintained by the Keyboard/Pointer Provider. • If this error occurs frequently, contact your service provider for assistance. 167
