HP NetServer AA Solution Administrator, s Guide, MtcScsiP status: During IOP joining

Page 341 highlights

Chapter 14 MtcScsiP and MtcScsiR Messages IOPn.MtcScsiP status: DISKn was unable to use remapped sector SECTOR during a mirror copy. The disk may need replacement. Variables n - the disk number; for example, DISK0, DISK1, DISK2 SECTOR - the sector number of the remapped sector. Severity Error Description During a mirror set copy, the source disk encountered a bad block. The software remapped the bad block, and then attempted to use the remapped area, but the attempt failed. The disk may need replacement. Action • Use the HP NetServer AA Manager to reset the mirror copy. A new mirror copy will be started. • If the new mirror copy also fails, then check the SCSI termination and cabling for problems. • If you find no problems, back up all data from the source disk, and replace the source disk. See Chapter 9 in HP NetServer AA Solution Administrator's Guide for details about replacing a mirrored disk. Note: The bad spot on the disk may or may not affect the integrity of the file system. Whether it has an effect will become apparent as you attempt to back up your data. IOPn.MtcScsiP status: During IOP joining, the SCSI Provider detected inconsistent states between the IOPs. Severity Error Description This condition occurs when an IOP attempts to join after a CE operating system shutdown. When the CE reboots, the SCSI Provider detects a state mismatch between the IOPs. When the CE operating system reboots, the joining IOP begins to remirror all qualified online disk sets. However, the active IOP rejects the copy start request from the joining IOP, which is automatically removed and rebooted. After the reboot, the IOPs should rejoin successfully, and all mirror sets will be made current. This system recovery requires no operator intervention. Action No action is required. If the IOP reboot does not correct the problem, contact your service provider for assistance. 331

SECTOR
the sector number of the remapped sector.
Severity
Error
Description
During a mirror set copy, the source disk encountered a bad block. The software remapped the
bad block, and then attempted to use the remapped area, but the attempt failed. The disk may
need replacement.
Action
Use the HP NetServer AA Manager to reset the mirror copy. A new mirror copy will be
started.
If the new mirror copy also fails, then check the SCSI termination and cabling for
problems.
If you find no problems, back up all data from the source disk, and replace the source disk.
See
Chapter 9
in
HP NetServer AA Solution Administrator
s Guide
for details about
replacing a mirrored disk.
Note:
The bad spot on the disk may or may not affect the integrity of the file system.
Whether it has an effect will become apparent as you attempt to back up your data.
IOP
n
.MtcScsiP status: During IOP joining, the SCSI Provider detected inconsistent states between the IOPs.
Severity
Error
Description
This condition occurs when an IOP attempts to join after a CE operating system shutdown.
When the CE reboots, the SCSI Provider detects a state mismatch between the IOPs.
When the CE operating system reboots, the joining IOP begins to remirror all qualified online
disk sets. However, the active IOP rejects the copy start request from the joining IOP, which
is automatically removed and rebooted.
After the reboot, the IOPs should rejoin successfully, and all mirror sets will be made current.
This system recovery requires no operator intervention.
Action
No action is required. If the IOP reboot does not correct the problem, contact your service
provider for assistance.
