Chapter 14 MtcScsiP and MtcScsiR Messages IOPn.MtcScsiP status: Mirror set copy from IOPn to IOPn for DISKx has halted. The local IOP lost access to DISKn. Variables n - the IOP number; either IOP1 or IOP2 x - the disk number; for example, DISK0, DISK1, DISK2 Severity Warning Description This message occurs only during mirror copies, and it can be caused by a variety of conditions. Check the event log for previous messages relating to the state of the specified disk. Action Review the event log, looking for previous messages that indicate what disk state change caused the problem. For example, the HP NetServer AA SCSI software might have lost access to the disk if the disk failed a write request and went to a faulted state. IOPn.MtcScsiP status: Mirror set copy from IOPn to IOPn for DISKx has halted. The local IOP was unable to send a packet to the other IOP, or the other IOP did not send an expected packet. Variables n - the IOP number; either IOP1 or IOP2 x - the disk number; for example, DISK0, DISK1, DISK2 Severity Warning Description This message occurs only during mirror copies, and it can be caused by different situations: • The remote IOP did not send a packet to the local IOP within a specified time period. • The local IOP was unable to send a packet to the remote IOP. In either case, the mirror copy will be halted, and the mirror copy target disk will go offline. This message may also be accompanied by other, related error messages. Consult the event log for other Endurance messages, such as: • IL related error messages - caused by conditions that would result in the removal of an IOP. • Disk related messages - caused by disk errors such as bad block remapping. Such events could cause the target or the source disk to become too consumed in servicing the disk error. This might interrupt the disk's ability to service mirror copy packets, which could cause mirror copy timers to expire. Action Depending on what other events have occurred and are reflected in event log messages: • If you find IL related messages, verify that the IL communication path is functioning correctly. • Invoke the command IOPn Diskx Reset Mirror Copy to reset the mirror copy. A new mirror copy will be started. If the mirror set copy continues to fail, repair the disk or disks in the affected mirror set. • If the problem persists, contact your service provider for assistance. 337
