Chapter 1 Introduction When troubleshooting an HP NetServer AA server, check the event logs for HP NetServer AA messages that start with or . Because the HP NetServer AA server uses standard event reporting, you can integrate standard notification applications (for example, paging devices and third-party software) to notify you when a fault occurs. For a detailed listing of HP NetServer AA messages, refer to subsequent chapters in this manual. HP NetServer AA Message Categories and Conventions The documentation for the HP NetServer AA server messages is presented as follows: • Commands are referenced by the syntax that the HP NetServer AA Manager GUI displays. • Within chapters and categories, messages are listed alphabetically. • When applicable, a message is documented using the following: - Message Text - Variables (including their descriptions) - Severity (either Informational, Error, or Warning) - Description - Related Messages - Hardware/Software - Action • The Action section highlights corrective steps. While these steps appear as bulleted lists, they are procedural steps and should be completed in the order that they are documented. If the corrective steps do not resolve the condition (or if an Action section is not included for a message), contact your service provider for assistance. • In addition to the standard document convention, italics are used in message text to indicate variables. For example, when a message reports IOP1 or IOP2, the variable IOPn is used. 6
