Command Mode Global Configuration mode User Guidelines • There are no user guidelines for this command. Examples The following example defines a default domain name of www.dell.com. Console (config)# ip domain-name www.dell.com ip name-server The ip name-server Global Configuration mode command sets the available name servers. To remove a name server, use the no form of this command. Syntax ip name-server server-address [server-address2 ... server-address8] no ip name-server [server-address1 ... server-address8] • server-address-IP addresses of the name server. Up to 8 servers can be defined in one command or by using multiple commands. Default Configuration No name server addresses are specified. Command Mode Global Configuration mode User Guidelines • The preference of the servers is determined by the order they were entered. • Up to 8 servers can be defined. Examples The following example sets the available name server. Console (config)# ip name-server 176.16.1.18 ip host The ip host Global Configuration mode command defines a static host name-to-address mapping in the host cache.
