Command Mode Privileged EXEC mode User Guidelines There are no user guidelines for this command. Examples • The following command manually initiates a re-authentication of the 802.1X-enabled port. Console# dot1x re-authenticate ethernet g8 dot1x timeout quiet-period The dot1x timeout quiet-period Interface Configuration mode command sets the number of seconds that the switch remains in the quiet state following a failed authentication exchange (for example, the client provided an invalid password). Use the no form of this command to return to the default setting. Syntax dot1x timeout quiet-period seconds no dot1x timeout quiet-period • seconds-Time in seconds that the switch remains in the quiet state following a failed authentication exchange with the client. (Range: 0 - 65535 seconds) Default Configuration 60 Command Mode Interface configuration (Ethernet) User Guidelines • During the quiet period, the switch does not accept or initiate any authentication requests. • The default value of this command should only be changed to adjust for unusual circumstances, such as unreliable links or specific behavioral problems with certain clients and authentication servers. • If it is necessary to provide a faster response time to the user, a smaller number than the default should be entered. 802.1x Commands 375
