chapter 3 | getting connected | 83 hp MicroChaiVM hp MicroChaiVM, a small-footprint embedded virtual machine for running Java™ applications, allows you to extend the capabilities of your hp Jornada. In addition to running Microsoft Pocket PC applications, you can download on demand and run Java applications that are based on the Mobile Information Device Profile (MIDP) specification. You can download these applications via a GSM network or through a modem connection. With hp MicroChaiVM, your hp Jornada can now run many readily available MIDP applications, which are commonly referred to as MIDlets. A growing number of GSM service providers offer MIDP-based services. With hp MicroChaiVM, which complies with the public MIDP specification, you can take advantage of the mobile services, games, and messaging options offered by your service provider. To start hp MicroChaiVM 1. On the Start menu, tap Programs. 2. hp MicroChaiVM
hp MicroChaiVM, a small-footprint embedded virtual machine for running
