Verifying Device Information, Verifying CE Ethernet Adapter MAC Addresses

Page 193 highlights

Chapter 6 Configuration Utility Verifying Device Information When using the Endurance Configuration Utility, you must enter the correct address information for your Ethernet adapters and SCSI devices. If you are unsure of an address or want to verify an address, refer to one of the following: • Verifying CE Ethernet Adapter MAC Addresses • Verifying SCSI Device Addresses Verifying CE Ethernet Adapter MAC Addresses When using the Endurance Configuration Utility, define each Ethernet adapter that the CE uses to provide connectivity to the local area network. If you are not sure of the MAC address of an Ethernet adapter: Step 1 2 Action On the IOP that contains the adapter, open an MS-DOS window. At the MS-DOS prompt, type "mtccfg -netinfo". Notes Make sure that you enter the address for the Ethernet adapter that connects to the local area network (and not to the IL (Interconnect Link)). Verifying SCSI Device Addresses When you add a SCSI device (disk, tape drive, or CD-ROM), the Endurance Configuration Utility prompts you for the SCSI address for the device. The address includes the SCSI adapter number, adapter bus number, target ID, and LUN (logical unit number). If you are not sure of a SCSI address, you can verify the address by using either: • The chart that you recorded during hardware installation. • SCSI Control Panel. • The Windows NT Registry. 177

Configuration Utility
Verifying Device Information
When using the Endurance Configuration Utility, you must enter the correct address
information for your Ethernet adapters and SCSI devices. If you are unsure of an address or
want to verify an address, refer to one of the following:
Verifying CE Ethernet Adapter MAC Addresses
Verifying SCSI Device Addresses
Verifying CE Ethernet Adapter MAC Addresses
When using the Endurance Configuration Utility, define each Ethernet adapter that the CE uses
to provide connectivity to the local area network. If you are not sure of the MAC address of an
Ethernet adapter:
Verifying SCSI Device Addresses
When you add a SCSI device (disk, tape drive, or CD-ROM), the Endurance Configuration
Utility prompts you for the SCSI address for the device. The address includes the SCSI adapter
number, adapter bus number, target ID, and LUN (logical unit number). If you are not sure of a
SCSI address, you can verify the address by using either:
The chart that you recorded during hardware installation.
SCSI Control Panel.
The Windows NT Registry.

.
Make sure that you enter the address for the Ethernet
adapter that connects to the local area network (and
not to the IL (Interconnect Link)).
