Chapter 7 Tools and Utilities MTCEINFO Tool The MTCEINFO Tool is an application that displays Ethernet adapter information. You can use this tool from any computer to view information about its local Ethernet adapter. You may need to access this information to: • Verify that the adapter is operating properly. • Verify that the adapter is receiving network traffic. The output displayed as a result of the MTCEINFO Tool includes the adapter description, counters, and error information. The information displayed is adapter specific and depends on the NDIS query options supported by the adapter. In general, statistics stored on the adapter are only reset when the system is power cycled or reset. Running MTCEINFO To run MTCEINFO: Step 1 2 Action Notes Open either the Endurance Console window or an MS-DOS window. Type mtceinfo ServiceName. ServiceName is the Ethernet device name with a number appended. To access the ServiceName: • On a CE, use mtcethrX • On an IOP, use either: - mtccfg -netinfo - Check the Windows NT Registry parameter under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\NetworkCards\ x\ ServiceName X is the number of the redirected Ethernet connection. X is a number from 1 to the number of NICs installed.
