Chapter 4 Endurance Manager Overview The Endurance Manager is a complete management tool for your server. Endurance Manager is a standard Windows NT application that enables you to: • View the status of any server and its components. This includes the server, and CEs, IOPs, interconnects, keyboards, pointers, redirected devices, and Ethernet connections. • Issue commands to manage the server and its components, including enabling and disabling server components. • Access statistics about the servers, including Ethernet counters. • Determine the status of the servers' mirrored disks, including the direction of any pending mirror copies and, if a mirror copy is in progress, the percentage of completion. • Access the Endurance Configuration Utility and Windows NT administration tools. • Administer your servers from a remote workstation, using either a local area network connection or Microsoft's Remote Access Server (RAS). Using Endurance Manager options, you can control how information is displayed and updated, including configuring which IOP is polled for status and state information. Endurance Manager includes an Administration window, a graphical representation of the server. The colors of components in the Administration window indicate the status of the components (page 55). Using the Administration window, you can also access: • A filtered list of commands for a specific component. • A description of any server component. The Endurance Manager conforms to Windows graphical user interface conventions. For information about these conventions, refer to Windows NT documentation. 46
