Translation Rules Settings Settings Description Import Blocking/Abbreviated If you include the Blocking and Abbreviated Dialing Rules information in Dialing Rules Information the Cisco-provided .xls data configuration file, you can import the Blocking and Abbreviated Dialing Rules information from the Cisco-provided .xls data configuration file. After you click Import Blocking/Abbreviated Dialing Rules, you must select where the Cisco-provided .xls data configuration file is located. The Cisco-provided .xls data configuration file must exist on the desktop of your PC or on a USB flash drive. After you select the location, the system attempts to import the blocking and abbreviated rules. Cisco Business Edition 3000 displays a report that indicates whether the insertion succeeded or failed. The report indicates the number of Blocking/Abbreviated Dialing Rules that are imported successfully, the number of rules that failed to get imported, and the reason why the import failed. If errors (failures) occur, you can save the errors to a .csv file so that you can correct the Cisco-provided .xls data configuration file. After you update the Cisco-provided .xls data configuration file, attempt the import again through the Dial Plan pages. Clicking Import Blocking/Abbreviated Dialing Rules imports Blocking/Abbreviated Dialing Rules if they are all in the Cisco-provided .xls data configuration file; you can click the button in either Abbreviated Dialing page to import both users and phones. (The system always imports all at the same time if all are in the file.) You can import Blocking/Abbreviated Dialing Rules from any of the tabs on System Settings > Dial Plan page. Save Reset Click Save to save your changes. If an error occurs while attempting to update the dial plan configuration, the system restarts to recover. If the dial plan configuration is updated partially, the system will display the summary of the values configured. Note Cisco recommends that you contact the Cisco Technical Assistance Center for assistance. Click Reset to discard your changes and display the saved data. Translation Rules Settings Translation rules allow Cisco Business Edition 3000 to manipulate one extension number to another extension number before routing the call. The following scenarios show examples of when you would configure translation rules: • To translate the Meet-Me conference number to an extension • To translate a toll-free number, such as an 800 number, to an extension • To translate an extension to a pilot extension in a hunt list Administration Guide for Cisco Business Edition 3000, Release 8.6(4) 226 OL-27022-01
