Administration Configuring the Logging Options 8 • Day: If logs are to be sent on a weekly basis, choose the day of the week. • Time: Select the time of day when logs should be sent. STEP 5 If you want the security appliance to send logs to a syslog server, enter the IP address or the Internet name of the server in the SysLog Server field. STEP 6 Click Apply to save your settings. Logs Facility and Severity A variety of events can be captured and logged for review. These logs can be sent to a syslog server or emailed to a specified address. You can also specify which system messages are logged based on the facility that generated the message and its severity level. STEP 1 Click Administration> Logging > Logs Facility and Severity. The Logs Facility and Severity window opens. STEP 2 Select the logging severity level and as defined in the Log Severity Levels table. STEP 3 Check the box for each event that you want to display in the local log or to send to the syslog server. STEP 4 Click Apply to save your settings. Log Severity Levels Emergency (level 0) System unusable. Syslog definition is LOG_EMERG. Alert (level 1) Immediate action needed. Syslog definition is LOG_ALERT. Critical (level 2) Critical conditions. Syslog definition is LOG_CRIT. Error (level 3) Error conditions. Syslog definition is LOG_ERR. Warning (level 4) Warning conditions.
