mac access-list extended Chapter 2 Catalyst 3560 Switch Cisco IOS Commands mac access-list extended Use the mac access-list extended global configuration command to create an access list based on MAC addresses for non-IP traffic. Using this command puts you in the extended MAC access-list configuration mode. Use the no form of this command to return to the default setting. mac access-list extended name no mac access-list extended name Syntax Description name Assign a name to the MAC extended access list. Defaults By default, there are no MAC access lists created. Command Modes Global configuration Command History Release 12.1(19)EA1 Modification This command was introduced. Usage Guidelines MAC named extended lists are used with VLAN maps and class maps. You can apply named MAC extended ACLs to VLAN maps or to Layer 2 interfaces; you cannot apply named MAC extended ACLs to Layer 3 interfaces. Entering the mac access-list extended command enables the MAC access-list configuration mode. These configuration commands are available: • default: sets a command to its default. • deny: specifies packets to reject. For more information, see the deny (MAC access-list configuration) MAC access-list configuration command. • exit: exits from MAC access-list configuration mode. • no: negates a command or sets its defaults. • permit: specifies packets to forward.
