IMPORTANT: If you license a server for PMP and then convert that server to a virtual machine host, you are not required to license the virtual machine host again for PMP. However, this virtual machine host must be licensed for Virtual Machine Management Pack. The virtual machine host can be monitored only when licensed by Virtual Machine Management Pack. Similarly, if a virtual machine host is converted to a physical server, it is not expected to be licensed again for PMP. For more information about licensing Virtual Machine Management Pack, see the Virtual Machine Management Pack documentation. Monitoring administration Servers are monitored based on monitoring parameters. The monitoring status and the number of samples are set in PMP for servers and storage enclosures that you want to monitor. NOTE: The Update Server List populates the status of servers that have changed and synchronizes the data from HP SIM. The Refresh button on the MA page is to get the updated information as systems are being discovered in PMP and the required data being collected from these systems. The list of systems for which the data collection is underway are greyed out and once the complete configuration information is collected the systems are selectable in the MA page. Changing server monitoring status Servers that are licensed for monitoring appear on the Monitoring Administration page. Servers that are currently being monitored by PMP appear with Started as the value in the Monitor Status column. Servers that are not currently being monitored have no value in the Monitor Status column. The default values for monitoring status and number of samples are listed beside each server. 68 Monitoring and controlling servers
