xStack® DES-3528/DES-3552 Series Layer 2 Stackable Fast Ethernet Managed Switch Web UI Reference Guide Parameter Description Method List Name Enter a method list name defined by the user of up to 15 characters. Priority 1, 2, 3, 4 The user may add one, or a combination of up to four of the following authentication methods to this method list: none - Adding this parameter will require no authentication needed to access the Switch. local_enable - Adding this parameter will require the user to be authenticated using the local enable password database on the Switch. The local enable password must be set by the user in the next section entitled Local Enable Password. radius - Adding this parameter will require the user to be authenticated using the RADIUS protocol from a remote RADIUS server. tacacs - Adding this parameter will require the user to be authenticated using the TACACS protocol from a remote TACACS server. tacacs+ - Adding this parameter will require the user to be authenticated using the TACACS protocol from a remote TACACS server. xtacacs - Adding this parameter will require the user to be authenticated using the XTACACS protocol from a remote XTACACS server. Click the Apply button to accept the changes made. Click the Edit button to re-configure the specific entry. Click the Delete button to remove the specific entry. Local Enable Password Settings Users can configure the locally enabled password for Enable Admin. When a user chooses the "local_enable" method to promote user level privileges to administrator privileges, he or she will be prompted to enter the password configured here that is locally set on the Switch. To view this window, click Security > Access Authentication Control > Local Enable Password Settings, as shown below: Figure 8-68 Local Enable Password Settings window The fields that can be configured are described below: Parameter Description Old Local Enable Password If a password was previously configured for this entry, enter it here in order to change it to a new password New Local Enable Password Enter the new password that you wish to set on the Switch to authenticate users attempting to access Administrator Level privileges on the Switch. The user may set a password of up to 15 characters. Confirm Local Enable Confirm the new password entered above. Entering a different password here from the Password one set in the New Local Enabled field will result in a fail message. Click the Apply button to accept the changes made. 264
