Media to avoid This printer can handle many types of media. Using media outside the printer's specifications will cause a loss of print quality and increase the incidence of jams. ■ Do not use paper that is too rough. ■ Do not use paper that contains cutouts or perforations other than standard three-hole punched paper. ■ Do not use multipart forms. ■ Do not use paper that has already been printed on or fed through a photocopier or printer. ■ Do not use paper that contains a watermark if you are printing solid patterns. Media that can cause damage to the printer In rare circumstances media can damage the printer. To prevent possible damage, do not use the following media: ■ Do not use paper that is embossed or coated unless it is specifically recommended for use in this printer. ■ Do not use paper that contains irregularities such as tabs or staples. ■ Do not use letterhead paper that was produced by using low temperature dyes or thermography. Preprinted forms or letterhead must use inks that can tolerate 190°C (374°F) for 0.1 second. ■ Do not use any media that produces hazardous emissions, or that melts, offsets, or discolors when exposed to 190°C (374°F) for 0.1 second. ■ Do not use transparencies that are designed for use with Inkjet printers or other low-temperature printers.
