Table 1 Documentation Conventions Unless otherwise noted in the text, this guide uses the following symbolic conventions. Documentation Conventions user-supplied values screen display Enter Italic words or characters in syntax and command descriptions represent "conceptual variables"- whose values are indicated by the current context and which you must supply. Italics are also used in text for emphasis. Information that the system displays, commands that you must use literally, and path names appear in this typeface. Keycaps are presented with a special keycap font as shown in the left column. (In this document, we refer to the Enter key. On your keyboard, the key may be labeled either Enter or Return.) 15
