Section 7: Messaging This section explains how to send and receive messages, and other features associated with messaging. Types of Messages Your phone supports these types of messages: • Text messages: Send and receive simple messages containing text to other mobile phones or email addresses (also known as SMS). • Multimedia messages: Send and receive text messages with pictures, video, and/or sound to other mobile phones or email addresses (also known as MMS). • Mobile IMs: Exchange Instant Messages with other users of popular messaging sites. • Email: Send and receive email from your email accounts, including Corporate mail. • Gmail: Send and receive Gmail from your Google account. • Voicemail: Retrieve voice messages from callers. • Google Talk: Chat with other Google Talk users. 67 Text and Multimedia Messaging Your phone can send and receive text and multimedia messages. Creating and Sending Messages 1. From the Home screen, touch Messaging ➔ New message. 2. Touch Enter recipient and enter a name, phone number or email address. - or - Touch to select from one of the following: • Groups: Select a recipient from the Group list. • Favorites: Select a recipient from the Favorites list. • Contacts: Select a recipient from your Contacts list (valid entries must have a wireless phone number or email address). • Logs: Select a recipient from a list of recently sent messages. 3. If adding a recipient from either Logs, Contacts, or Group, tap the contact (a check mark indicates selection), and tap Done. The contact displays in the recipient field.

Types of Messages
Your phone supports these types of messages:
Text messages
: Send and receive simple messages containing
text to other mobile phones or email addresses (also known as
SMS).
Multimedia messages
: Send and receive text messages with
pictures, video, and/or sound to other mobile phones or email
addresses (also known as MMS).
Mobile IMs
: Exchange Instant Messages with other users of
popular messaging sites.
Email
: Send and receive email from your email accounts,

Creating and Sending Messages

From the Home screen, touch
Messaging
New message
.

Touch
Enter recipient
and enter a name, phone number
or email address.

Touch
to select from one of the following:
• Groups
: Select a recipient from the Group list.
• Favorites
: Select a recipient from the Favorites list.
• Contacts
: Select a recipient from your Contacts list (valid
entries must have a wireless phone number or email address).
• Logs
