R1 and R2 run RSTP. R1 is the root bridge (STP priority 4096). R1 and R2 eth2.1-2.4 are edge ports, which are used to connect to PC. A port (eth2.6 in this example) will be the block port by RSTP algorithm, providing Loop avoidance.If the active path is broken (e.g., eth2.5 is down), the "blocking" port will become the forwarding port and become the active link, providing redundant link.
