Volume 3-Layer 2 Configurations / Chapter 16-Proxy ARP Command ip proxy-arp show ip proxy-arp Proxy ARP Configuration Commands Explanation Use this command to enable proxy ARP features on an interface. Use the no form of this command to disable proxy ARP features on an interface. Display the proxy ARP and local proxy ARP configuration. Enabling Proxy ARP function on a VLAN100,Use this command to enable proxy ARP functions. After activation the device will answer ARP request intended for other host, if any route to this host is found and accept and this ARP request packet passed the sanity checks. DGS6600:2>enable DGS6600:15#configure terminal DGS6600:15(config)#interface vlan100 DGS6600:15(config-if)#ip proxy-arp Use the ip local-proxy-arp command to enable local proxy ARP function on an interface. If local proxy ARP function is enabled, the local proxy ARP feature allows the switch to respond to ARP requests for targeted IP addresses if the ingress interface is the same as the egress interface after routing tables are referenced, which normally no routing is required. This is primarily used when hosts in the connected subnet are L2-separated with features like Private VLAN. The IP proxy ARP features must be enabled before local proxy ARP features can be used.
