portFencing 2 portFencing Configures the Fabric Watch port fencing feature. Synopsis portfencing --show portfencing --enable port_type -area_type area portfencing --disable port_type -area_type area portfencing --help Description Use this command to enable error reporting for the Fabric Watch port fencing feature on all ports of a specified type and to configure the ports to report errors for a certain Fabric Watch area. Supported port types include E_Ports, F_Ports, and physical ports. A specified port type can be configured to report errors for one or more areas. Use the --disable option to disable reporting of errors for a specified area on all ports of a given type. Use the --show option to display the configuration. The display includes the configured port types, error types, and port fencing status (disabled or enabled). Port fencing monitors ports for erratic behavior and disables a port if specified error conditions are met. The portFencing command enables and configures reporting options for the port fencing feature; it does not enable the port fencing feature itself or set the thresholds for port fencing. You must enable the port fencing feature and set the thresholds with the fwConfigure command before you can configure reporting options with the portFencing command. Port fencing is by default disabled. Note The execution of this command is subject to Virtual Fabric or Admin Domain restrictions that may be in place. Refer to chapter 1, "Using Fabric OS Commands" and Appendix A, "Command Availability" for details. Operands This command has the following operands: --show Displays the port fencing status of all configured port types and area types. --enable Enables ports of a specified type to report errors for a specified area. Specifying a port type and an area type is required. This command fails if thresholds are not set. Refer to fwConfigure help for more information. --disable Disables error reporting for a specified area on all ports of a given type. Upon successful execution Fabric Watch ceases reporting errors for the disabled area. You must specify a port type and an area type when disabling error reporting. The following operands are required with the --disable and --disable options. port_type Specifies the port type for which to enable or disable port fencing. Valid port types include one of the following: e-port Configures error reporting for all E_Ports. f-port Configures error reporting for all F_Ports. port Configures error reporting for all physical ports. -area_type area Specifies the area for which errors should be reported by the port fencing feature. Configurable areas include the following: Fabric OS Command Reference 655 53-1001337-01
