For details on handling these devices, refer to the following Web site and search for ESD: http://www.ibm.com 1. Remove the top cover (see "Removing the server top cover and bezel" on page 67). 2. Determine which expansion slot you will use for the adapter. Note: All six PCI slots support hot-plug PCI adapters. 3. Disable the selected PCI slot from your operating system. (Refer to the documentation that comes with your operating system for information about disabling a hotplug PCI slot.) Disabling the PCI slot turns off the power-on light for that PCI slot. Attention: Make sure that the power-on light for the hot-plug PCI slot is off before you continue with the next step. 4. Remove the expansion-slot cover: a. Rotate the adapter retention latch counterclockwise. b. Lift the tab on the top of the expansion-slot cover; then, remove the expansion-slot cover from the server.
