Users also have the ability to bind IP addresses within the DHCP pool to specific MAC addresses in order to assign the same IP addresses to important devices. DHCP Server Global Settings This window is used to display and configure the global DHCP server parameters. To view the following window, click Management > DHCP > DHCP Server > DHCP Server Global Settings, as shown below: Figure 4-27 DHCP Server Global Settings Window The fields that can be configured in DHCP Use Class State are described below: Parameter DHCP Use Class State Description Select to enable or disable the DHCP Use Class State here. When enabled, the DHCP server will use DHCP classes for address allocation. Click the Apply button to accept the changes made. The fields that can be configured in DHCP Server Settings are described below: Parameter DHCP Ping Packet DHCP Ping Timeout Description Enter the number of ping packets that the Switch will send out on the network containing the IP address to be allotted. If the ping request is not returned, the IP address is considered unique to the local network and then allotted to the requesting client. A value of 0 means there is no ping test. The range is from 0 to 10. The default value is 2. Enter the amount of time the DHCP server must wait before timing out a ping packet. The range is from 100 to 10000 milliseconds. The default value is 500 milliseconds. Click the Apply button to accept the changes made. 57
