Iterative resolution specifies that if the DNS server cannot supply an answer, it will return the address of the next DNS server the client contacted. Each client must be able to contact at least one DNS server, and each DNS server must be able to contact at least one root server. The address of the machine that supplies domain name service is often supplied by a DHCP or BOOTP server, or can be entered manually and configured into the operating system at startup. DNS Global Settings This window is used to configure the DNS global settings. To view the following window, click Management > DNS > DNS Global Settings, as shown below: Figure 4-57 DNS Global Settings Window The fields that can be configured are described below: Parameter IP Domain Lookup IP Name Server Timeout Description Select this option to enable or disable the DNS to carry out the domain name resolution. Enter the maximum time to wait for a response from a specified name server. This value is between 1 and 60 seconds. Click the Apply button to accept the changes made. DNS Name Server Settings This window is used to configure and display the IP address of a domain name server. To view the following window, click Management > DNS > DNS Name Server Settings, as shown below: Figure 4-58 DNS Name Server Settings Window 80
