Syntax config ssh user authmode {Hostbased [hostname | hostname_IP } | Password | Publickey | None] Description This command allows you to configure the SSH user authentication method. Parameters - Enter a username of no more than 15 characters to identify the SSH user. authmode - Specifies the authentication mode of the SSH user wishing to log on to the switch. The administrator may choose between: Hostbased - This parameter should be chosen if the user wishes to use a remote SSH server for authentication purposes. Choosing this parameter requires the user to input the following information to identify the SSH user. • hostname - Enter an alphanumeric string of up to 31 characters identifying the remote SSH user. • hostname_IP - Enter the hostname and the corresponding IP address of the SSH user. Password - This parameter should be chosen if the user wishes to use an administrator defined password for authentication. Upon entry of this command, the switch will prompt the user for a password, and then to retype the password for confirmation. Publickey - This parameter should be chosen if the user wishes to use the publickey on a SSH server for authentication. Restrictions None - Choose this parameter if no authentication is desired. Only administrator-level users can issue this command. Example usage: 165
