Purpose

Used to create a new syslog host.

Syntax

create syslog host <index 1-4> ipaddress <ipaddr> {severity

[informational | warning | all]

facility [local0 | local1 | local2 |

local3 | local4 | local5 | local6 | local7] | udp_port<int> | state

[enable | disable]}

Description

The

create syslog host

command is used to create a new syslog

host.

Parameters

<index 1-4>

Specifies that the command will be applied to an

index of hosts. There are four available indexes, numbered 1

through 4.

ipaddress <ipaddr>

−

Specifies the IP address of the remote host

where syslog messages will be sent.

severity

−

Severity level indicator. These are described in the

following:

Bold font indicates that the corresponding severity level is

currently supported on the switch.

Critical: critical conditions

Error: error conditions

Warning: warning conditions

Notice: normal but significant condition

Informational: informational messages

to the remote host. This corresponds to number 6 from the list

above.

Specifies that warning messages will be sent to the

remote host. This corresponds to number 4 from the list above.

Specifies that all of the currently supported syslog messages

that are generated by the switch will be sent to the remote host.

facility

−

Some of the operating system daemons and processes

have been assigned Facility values. Processes and daemons that

have not been explicitly assigned a Facility may use any of the

"local use" facilities or they may use the "user-level" Facility.

Those Facilities that have been designated are shown in the

following: Bold font indicates the facility values that the switch

currently supports.
