User Guidelines It is recommended to disable the spanning tree or to enable spanning-tree PortFast mode on 802.1x edge ports (ports in auto state that are connected to end stations), in order to go immediately to the forwarding state after successful authentication. Examples The following example enables 802.1x authentication on the interface: Console(config)# interface ethernet g16 Console(config-if)# dot1x port-control auto dot1x re-authentication The dot1x re-authentication interface configuration command enables periodic re-authentication of the client. To return to the default setting, use the no form of this command. Syntax dot1x re-authentication no dot1x re-authentication Default Configuration Periodic re-authentication is disabled. Command Mode Interface Configuration (Ethernet) mode User Guidelines There are no user guidelines for this command. Examples The following example enables periodic re-authentication of the client: Console(config)# interface ethernet g16 Console(config-if)# dot1x re-authentication dot1x timeout re-authperiod The dot1x timeout re-authperiod interface configuration command sets the number of seconds between re-authentication attempts.
