The switch can be pinged from any IP workstation with which the switch is connected through the default VLAN (VLAN 1), as long as there is a physical path between the switch and the workstation. The terminal interface sends three pings to the target station. Use the ipv6-address|hostname parameter to ping an interface by using the global IPv6 address of the interface. Use the optional size keyword to specify the size of the ping packet. You can utilize the ping or traceroute facilities over the service/network ports when using an IPv6 global address ipv6-global-address|hostname. Any IPv6 global address or gateway assignments to these interfaces will cause IPv6 routes to be installed within the IP stack such that the ping or traceroute request is routed out the service/network port properly.
