SYSTEM OVERVIEW FLIGHT INSTRUMENTS EIS & CNS AUDIO PANEL AVOIDANCE MANAGEMENT FLIGHT Automatic Flight Control System 7.4 Lateral Modes The GFC 700 offers the lateral modes listed in Table 7-3. Refer to the vertical modes section for information regarding Go Around Mode: Lateral Mode Description Control Annunciation Maximum Roll Command Limit Roll Hold Holds the current aircraft roll attitude or rolls the wings level, depending (default) ROL 22° on the commanded bank angle Heading Select Captures and tracks the HDG Selected Heading Key HDG 22° Navigation, FMS FMS 30° Navigation, VOR Enroute Capture/Track Navigation, LOC Capture/Track (No Glideslope) Captures and tracks the selected navigation source (FMS, VOR, LOC) NAV Key VOR LOC 22° Capture 10° Track 22° Capture 10° Track Backcourse Captures and tracks a localizer signal for BC Key BC backcourse approaches 22° Capture 10° Track Approach, FMS FMS 30° Approach, VOR Capture/Track Captures and tracks the selected navigation source APR Key VAPP Approach, LOC Capture/Track (Glideslope Mode automatically armed) (FMS, VOR, LOC) LOC 22° Capture 10° Track 22° Capture 10° Track Go Around Commands a constant GA pitch angle and wings level Switch GA Wings Level Level Autopilot engages and commands wings level * LVL Wings Level * Level mode can only become activated as a function of Electronic Stability and Protection (ESP). Refer to the Additional Features section for a detailed discussion of the optional ESP feature. The GFC 700 may generate a lower bank angle than the maximum roll command limit in degrees indicated in the table above by the amount needed to produce a turn rate equal to or less than standard rate. Table 7-3 Lateral Modes The CWS Button does not change lateral references for Heading Select, Navigation, Backcourse, or Approach modes. The autopilot guides the aircraft back to the Selected Heading/Course upon release of the CWS Button.
