GS716Tv3, GS724Tv4, and GS748Tv5 Smart Switches To view log messages stored in persistent storage: 1. Select Monitoring > Logs > FLASH Log. 2. Next to Logs to be Displayed, select the log messages to view: • Current Logs. View the messages logged to persistent storage during the current boot cycle. • Previous Logs. View the messages logged to persistent storage during the previous boot cycle. The screen displays up to 64 messages logged to persistent storage during the previous boot cycle. The persistent log file from the previous boot cycle stores the following messages: - Up to 32 startup messages, which are messages that occurred immediately after the previous boot cycle completed (system startup). - Up to 32 operational messages, which are messages that occurred immediately preceding the last boot. Server Log Use the Server Log screen to allow the switch to send log messages to the remote logging hosts configured on the system. To configure local log server settings: 1. Select Monitoring > Logs > Server Log. 2. Next to Admin Status, select one of the following: • Enable. Send log messages to all configured hosts (syslog collectors or relays) using the values configured for each host. • Disable. Stop logging to all syslog hosts. Disable means no messages will be sent to any collector/relay. 3. In the Local UDP Port field, specify the port on the switch from which syslog messages are sent. 4. Click the Apply button. The Server Log Configuration area displays the following information: • The Messages Received field shows the number of messages received by the log process. This includes messages that are dropped or ignored. • The Messages Relayed field shows the number of messages forwarded by the syslog function to a syslog host. Messages forwarded to multiple hosts are counted once for each host. • The Messages Ignored field shows the number of messages that were ignored. Monitoring the System 242
