Preparing Recording Media Initializing Recording Media The first time you use a recording media with this camera, initialize it first. You can also initialize a recording media to permanently delete all the data it contains. For details about initializing the CDX-36150 Recorder's Capture Drive, refer to Initializing a Capture Drive (A 205). 51 When initializing an SD card, you can select quick initialization, which clears the file allocation table but does not physically erase the stored data, or complete initialization, which deletes all data completely. 1 Open the [Initialize Media] submenu. [Rec/Media Setup] (3) > [Initialize Media] • Alternatively, you can press an assignable button set to [Initialize Media] (A 127). 2 Select [CFast A], [CFast B] or [SD Card] and then press SET. To initialize a CFast card 3 Camera menu: Press both [FORMAT] buttons simultaneously. Monitoring menu: Select [OK] and then press SET. • The CFast card is initialized and all the data it contains is erased. 4 When the confirmation message appears, press [OK] (camera menu) or press SET (monitoring menu). IMPORTANT • Initializing a recording media will permanently erase all data, including clips with an $ mark, photos and protected custom picture files. Lost data cannot be recovered. Make sure you save important recordings in advance. • Be sure to observe the following precautions while the initialization is in progress. Failing to do so may result in permanent data loss. - Do not remove the power source or turn off the camera. - Do not open the card slot cover of the recording media being initialized and do not remove the recording media. • Depending on the SD card, the complete initialization may take up to a few minutes. NOTES • While recording on a CFast card, you can initialize another CFast card in the other CFast card slot.
