W hen the ISP allows you to obtain the Option IP s ettings via DHCP, you need to provide details for the DHCPv6 client configuration. The DHCPv6 client on the gateway can be either s tateless or s tateful. If a s tateful client is s elected the gateway will connect to the ISP‟s DHCPv6 s erver for a leas ed addres s . For s tateles s DHCP there need not be a DHCPv6 s erver available at the ISP, rather ICMPv6 dis cover mes s ag es will o rig in at e fro m t h is g at eway an d will b e u s ed fo r au t o co nfig u rat ion.
