Original information Use the scanner glass or document feeder to position originals to copy. Scanner glass originals Use the scanner glass when originals are not suitable for use with the document feeder. For example, when size is incompatible, or when originals are folded, stapled, torn, or in generally poor condition. Note See each description in this manual for copy conditions that cannot use the document feeder to scan. Unsuitable RADF (ADF) originals Note CAUTION 1 Curled, creased, or folded originals 2 Paste-ups or cut-outs 3 Books 4 Glossy or transparent originals, overhead projector (OHP) film, art paper, cellophane 5 Doubled, punched, or stapled originals 6 Thin or thick originals Scanner glass original specifications ● Maximum original size: 303 mm by 438 mm (11.9 by 17.2 inches), sheet or book ● Maximum book weight/thickness: 6.8 kg (15 lb)/30 mm (1.2 inches) ● Original placement: Face down on the left side of the glass Detectable paper size can be changed from only A series to Inch series, AB series, or AB series and Inch series mixed by Key Operator. See (13) Memory switch setting for more information. Do not place heavy originals on the glass or do not press strongly when a thick original is placed and is under pressure on the RADF (ADF).
