Section 1 Basic Use of this Fax Dialing a destination fax number 6 Use the keypad to enter the destination fax number. * The destination fax number can be up to 32 digits in length. (Inch) (Metric) * If a mistake is made at any point in entering the fax number, press the cursor left or the cursor right key to move the cursor to the desired position and enter the desired number, or press the Stop/Clear key and enter the full number once again from the beginning. * If you want to cancel the operation in progress, press the Reset key. The information entered up to that point will be cleared and the operation panel will return to the initial mode settings. If you stopped the operation because you made a mistake in the procedure, perform the procedure once again from the beginning. Simply press the one-touch key under which the desired fax number is registered. * The transmission operation will begin automatically; there is no need to press the Start key. (Inch) (Metric) q One-touch keys * To use the one-touch keys for dialing, it is necessary to register, in advance, the desired destination fax number under one of the onetouch keys. * If the alarm sounds and an error message appears in the message display, an unregistered one-touch key was pressed. Check the correct one-touch key and press that key. You can also enter the destination fax number with an abbreviated number. Simply press the Abbr./Directory key and then use the keypad to enter the 2-digit abbreviated number (00 - 99) under which the destination fax number is registered. * The transmission operation will begin automatically; there is no need to press the Start key. (Inch) (Metric) q Abbreviated numbers * To use abbreviated numbers for dialing, it is necessary to register, in advance, the desired destination fax number under an abbreviated number. * If the alarm sounds and an error message appears in the message display, an unregistered abbreviated number was entered. Check the correct abbreviated number and enter that number. 1-24
