Hardware Problems Power Problems Power Source Use the information in Table 2-1 to troubleshoot power source problems. Table 2-1: Power Source Problems Problem Power is not working properly or power-related errors are occurring. Possible Cause Power On/Standby switch AC outlet (if applicable to your system) DC source (if applicable to your system) Power cord Power strip Line voltage Circuit breakers Power supply Uninterruptible power supply (UPS) and cables Possible Solution Be sure that the switch is on. If your server has a Power On/Standby switch that returns to its original position after being pressed, be sure that you press the switch firmly. Plug another device into the grounded AC outlet to be sure that the outlet works. Be sure that the AC power meets applicable standards. Have a licensed electrician check the DC source. Replace the power cord to be sure that the original power cord was not faulty. Replace the power strip to be sure that the original power strip was not faulty. Have a qualified electrician check the voltage to be sure that it meets the required specifications. Be sure that your circuit breakers are all in the On position.
