Scan Features & Functions
75
This feature allows the administrator to set restrictions, allowing users
to scan only to those addresses authorized by the network administrator
— defined in Active Directory once the confidential documents are scanned
to the individual’s Email address or desktop, it is easier for the network to track
if these highly sensitive documents are forwarded to other destinations, especially
unauthorized destinations.
SCAN-TO-AUTHORIZED FOLDER
In keeping with customer’s concerns regarding security, Konica Minolta also
offers a security feature called Scan-to-Authorized Folder.
Unlike the “Scan-to-
Home” feature which is available with Active Directory authentication and
enables access by a specific user, Scan-to-Authorized Folder can be accessed
by a group of individuals provided they have the credentials to access this folder.
The administrator assigns the rights to this folder and the credentials carry over
from the user’s authorized access to the MFP.
This means that once a user
has been authenticated to the MFP and they have rights to the authorized folder
and can easily access the authorized folder.
Scan-to-Authorized folder differs from Scan-to-SMB because the path to the SMB
must be registered in a one touch and typically the SMB folder resides on a user’s
desktop and only that user scans to it (although other users could scan to another
user’s SMB folder.
With Scan-to-Authorized folder, credentials reside at the folder
and multiple logins can be assigns for multiple individuals to gain access.
