By employing this design, the developing unit life has been extended up to 600,000 and the drum unit up to 120,000 as compared to previous models that offered a 120,000 life for the integrated black imaging unit. Since the developing unit and the drum have been separated and because the Auto-Refining Developing eliminates the need for the developing unit to be replaced on a more frequent basis, the life of the developing unit has been significantly increased. The life of the developing unit may fluctuate based on usage, but given the average machine life, it is anticipated that the developing only ever need to be replaced approximately 3 times.
