Step 2 Example: switch# configure terminal switch(config)# interface interface Example: switch(config)# interface ethernet 2/1 switch(config-if)# switch(config)# interface mgmt0 switch(config-if)# Step 3 shutdown Specifies the interface that you are configuring. You can specify the interface type and identity. For an Ethernet port, use "ethernet slot/port." For the management interface, use "mgmt0." Example 1 shows how to specify the slot 2, port 1 Ethernet interface. Example 2 shows how to specify the management interface. Disables the interface. Step 4 Step 5 Example: switch(config-if)# shutdown switch(config-if)# show interface interface Example: switch(config-if)# show interface ethernet 2/1 switch(config-if)# Displays the interface status, which includes the administrative status. no shutdown Reenables the interface.
