When an event occurs on the Switch, a message will be sent to the SNMP agent (trap), the Switch's log or both. Events occurring on the Switch are separated into three main categories. • Information - Events classified as information are basic events occurring on the Switch that are not deemed as problematic, such as enabling or disabling various functions on the Switch. • Warning - Events classified as warning are problematic events that are not critical to the overall function of the Switch but do require attention, such as unsuccessful downloads or uploads and failed logins. • Critical - Events classified as critical are fatal exceptions occurring on the Switch, such as hardware failures or spoofing attacks. Choose one of the following to identify where severity messages are to be sent. • trap - Entering this parameter will define which events occurring on the Switch will be sent to a SNMP agent for analysis. • log - Entering this parameter will define which events occurring on the Switch will be sent to the Switch's log for analysis. • all - Entering this parameter will define which events occurring on the Switch will be sent to a SNMP agent and the Switch's log for analysis. Purpose
To configure when and where severity messages are to be
recorded.
Syntax
config system_severity [trap | log | all] [critical | warning |
information]
Description
This command is used to configure the system severity levels on the
Switch. When an event occurs on the Switch, a message will be sent
to the SNMP agent (trap), the Switch’s log or both. Events occurring
on the Switch are separated into three main categories.
Information – Events classified as information are basic events
occurring on the Switch that are not deemed as problematic,
such as enabling or disabling various functions on the Switch.
Warning - Events classified as warning are problematic events
that are not critical to the overall function of the Switch but do
