xStack DES-3800 Series Layer 3 Stackable Fast Ethernet Managed Switch CLI Manual 14 MIRROR CONFIGURATION COMMANDS The port mirroring commands in the Command Line Interface (CLI) are listed (along with the appropriate parameters) in the following table. Command config mirror port enable mirror disable mirror show mirror Parameters [add | delete] source ports [rx | tx | both] Each command is listed, in detail, in the following sections. config mirror port Purpose Syntax Description Parameters Restrictions Used to configure a mirror port − source port pair on the Switch. Traffic from any source port to a target port can be mirrored for realtime analysis. A logic analyzer or an RMON probe can then be attached to study the traffic crossing the source port in a completely obtrusive manner. config mirror port [add | delete] source ports [rx | tx | both] This command allows a range of ports to have all of their traffic also sent to a designated port, where a network sniffer or other device can monitor the network traffic. In addition, you can specify that only traffic received by or sent by one or both is mirrored to the Target port. − This specifies the Target port (the port where mirrored packets will be received). The target port must be configured in the same VLAN and must be operating at the same speed a s the source port. If the target port is operating at a lower speed, the source port will be forced to drop its operating speed to match that of the target port. [add | delete] - Specify to add or delete ports to be mirrored that are specified in the source ports parameter. source ports - The port or ports being mirrored. This cannot include the Target port. • − This specifies a port or range of ports that will be mirrored. That is, the range of ports in which all traffic will be copied and sent to the Target port. rx − Allows the mirroring of only packets received by (flowing into) the port or ports in the port list. tx − Allows the mirroring of only packets sent to (flowing out of) the port or ports in the port list. both − Mirrors all the packets received or sent by the port or ports in the port list. Only Administrator or Operator-level users can issue this command. The Target port cannot be listed as a source port. 102
